TC bargaining: Parties remain at impasse following mediation

Our TC bargaining team met with the employer in mediation July 16-17. These mediation dates were set by the Federal Public Service Labour Relations and Employment Board (FPSLREB) following our bargaining team’s decision to declare impasse in May.

Despite our efforts, the employer continued to stall, leaving many of the TC group's key priorities unaddressed, including job security, pension improvements, reproductive health protections, artificial intelligence safeguards, enhanced leave entitlements, and work-life balance.

Throughout mediation, your bargaining team continued to push for TC specific priorities, including parity with broader law enforcement groups for fishery officers and Environment and Climate Change Canada enforcement officers. We also pressed for fair compensation for members who are required to perform their duties during flight, and proposed clarifications to the Transfers at Sea provisions and an additional allowance for transfers under more challenging conditions.

There has been no resolution, and we remain in dispute. As a result, PSAC will again be notifying the FPSLREB that we remain at impasse.

Next steps

Our bargaining team remains determined to negotiate a fair contract that protects our working conditions and secures needed improvements for the critical work of the TC group.

Our next steps will depend on a decision from the Board.
