SV bargaining: What the strike vote announcements mean for you

With the PA, EB, and TC groups beginning strike votes, you may be wondering what this means for you as an SV member. While our SV bargaining team fully supports those groups, our bargaining path is different.

SV members voted for binding arbitration as our dispute resolution method this round, instead of conciliation and strike. That means the SV group will not participate in strike votes. Our team will continue working toward a negotiated agreement. If we reach impasse, an independent arbitrator or arbitration panel will issue a final, binding decision on all unresolved issues.

When we last met with Treasury Board on September 15–17, the employer made no meaningful movement on our key priorities. While the employer responded to some outstanding proposals, their offers fell far short of what members deserve. In several cases, they sought concessions in return for limited progress and offered only minor editorial changes in exchange for us, dropping or weakening important proposals.

We will meet with the employer again on November 30 to December 3.

Our bargaining team remains committed to securing a fair, negotiated deal. We were elected to represent your interests, and we will continue to bargain in good faith and push for the contract you deserve.

We need your support

With arbitration as our backstop, showing that SV members are united behind our bargaining team is what gives us the leverage to win a fair deal before it ever gets to an arbitrator.

Our strength comes directly from your continued support. Here’s how you can help:

Every workplace conversation, every black shirt, and every member who gets involved strengthens our position at the bargaining table.
