Negotiations break off with civilian staff on military bases – strike action begins Monday

Negotiations between the PSAC-UNDE and the Staff of the Non-Public funds continued this week with zero progress on any of the key issues that the union has been working towards: fair wages, a national pay grid, and secure jobs for workers who are some of the lowest paid workers in the federal public service.

Because this employer refuses to provide our members with fair wages in line with the core public service and to address longstanding issues with wildly inconsistent wages at military bases across the country, our negotiations team has broken off talks, and strike action will begin Monday, January 15 in the NCR, Ontario and Quebec.

Rescinding top-ups for members on maternity leave – a shameful scare tactic

In advance of strike action on January 15, the employer has signaled that they will be rescinding maternity leave top-ups for people on maternity leave. This is a blatant attempt to break the solidarity of our members and discourage you from exercising your legal right to strike.

On top of securing alternative benefits for members while job action is taken, PSAC will be doing everything possible ensure that supports are in place for members on maternity leave.
