TC bargaining: No major movement, strike votes will be critical moving forward

Our TC bargaining team was in mediation with Treasury Board on October 24–25. This weekend’s session showed how important strike votes and collective action will be to getting the employer to move on our top issues.

This was the first session since PSAC announced strike votes for TC, PA, and EB members to begin on November 16.  Although the employer engaged on some issues, we remain significantly far apart on the issues important to TC members.

Our bargaining team remains committed to getting the best deal for TC members and will continue pushing for improvements on key member priorities, including fair wages and market adjustments, job security, pension improvements, AI guardrails, and improved leave and work-life balance.

With strike votes announced, now is the time to escalate

It's clear that Treasury Board needs to hear that members are willing to fight for better. Our goal is always a negotiated settlement, but a strong strike mandate is the most powerful tool we have.

With strike votes announced, our bargaining team needs members to be informed and ready.

Talk to your local union reps. Attend union meetings. Review PSAC bargaining information. Ask questions. Register for strike training through your PSAC regional office. Make sure you’re getting bargaining updates and know what’s happening in your workplace.

Workers are mobilizing

Over the last few months, PSAC members across the country have been building momentum and showing support for a fair contract:

  • Over 30,000 emails were sent to Members of Parliament within the first week that the action launched, demanding action and a fair deal for federal public service workers.
  • More than 12,000 members participated in virtual bargaining town halls, strike training, and other mobilization events to build support and keep bargaining issues front and centre.
  • Thousands of members participated in our monthly Day of Solidarity by wearing black to show their support for bargaining teams.
  • Bargaining team members visited workplaces and locals across the country to discuss bargaining priorities and hear directly from members.

Members are getting organized, ramping up action, and supporting their bargaining teams so they can win a fair deal for members.

Show your support and keep the pressure on

Every email, every black shirt, every workplace conversation, and every member who gets involved strengthens our position at the bargaining table.
