Staff of the Non-Public Funds (NPF) bargaining units in five regions across the country are currently in different stages of the bargaining process. Units have begun mediation and will resume Public Interest Commission hearings this month.
Wage offer falls short while members struggle to make ends meet
During mediation sessions for members in Kingston, Petawawa, Valcartier, St-Jean and Bagotville, the employer made a wage offer that falls well short of rising inflation.
Quebec and Ontario’s bargaining teams unanimously rejected this offer and push for a fair collective agreement that would mean meaningful change for members struggling to make ends meet.
Despite the critical work they do, NPF members are some of the lowest paid workers in the federal public service. For too long, they have been denied decent wage increases and suffered from inconsistent pay grids.
Who are Non-Public Funds workers?
PSAC represents almost 600 workers who support Canadian Forces members and their families through the Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS) at Canadian military bases across the country.
Members in NPF locals have separate collective agreements and conditions of employment. This is distinct from other bargaining units such as Treasury Board or the Canada Revenue Agency who bargain one collective agreement for all members, regardless of the region they work. This is why we are fighting for consistency for units across the country, so that workers doing the same job in different regions are paid the samefair wages and receive the same working conditions.
