PSAC has filed a fourth unfair labour practice complaint against the Bank of Canada, alleging that the Bank failed to comply with another order from the Canada Industrial Relations Board.
In July, the Board found that the Bank broke the Canada Labour Code by using replacement workers during the ongoing strike by its security officers, and ordered the bank to stop.
PSAC’s latest legal filing alleges that the Bank kept using replacement workers anyway, defying the Board’s ruling and continuing to break the law.
This is the fourth time PSAC has asked the Board to intervene since the strike began. Twice now, the CIRB has found that the Bank violated the Canada Labour Code.
“The Bank of Canada presents itself as one of the country’s best employers. But a top employer respects the law and its workers,” said Sharon DeSousa, PSAC national president. “The Bank must stop looking for ways around the law, return to the bargaining table and negotiate a fair deal.”
PSAC continues to call on the Bank to abide by the ruling, stop using scabs, and negotiate a fair deal with these workers.
