PSAC was in mediation with Treasury Board for two more days on September 21–22. Our bargaining team is committed to making sure we’ve explored every path toward a fair negotiated deal for more than 110,000 PA members. 

After two days of mediated talks, the parties are no further ahead on the key issues needed to reach an agreement. We’ll be back at the table for two more days on September 29–30 to continue pushing for movement and fighting for every improvement we can win. But so far, nothing has changed. 

On a positive note, our team was proud to join delegates attending the Government Services Union Triennial National Convention in Ottawa, along with PSAC members from across components, at a rally outside mediation. This demonstration of solidarity sent a clear message — workers across components and workplaces are united and ready to fight for a fair deal.

Members are mobilizing 

Over the last few months, PSAC members across the country have continued building momentum and showing support for a fair contract: 

• Over 30,000 emails were sent to Members of Parliament within the first week, demanding action and a fair deal for federal public service workers. 
• More than 12,000 members participated in virtual bargaining town halls , strike training, and other mobilization events to build support and keep bargaining issues front and centre. 
• Thousands of members participated in our monthly Day of Solidarity by wearing black to show their support for bargaining teams. 
• Bargaining team members visited workplaces and locals across the country to discuss bargaining priorities and hear directly from members. 

Across the country, members are getting organized, getting informed, and getting ready for what's next. 

Be ready to escalate 

The next round of mediation on September 29–30 will be an important test. Our team will keep fighting for a fair deal, but members need to be realistic about where things are headed. If Treasury Board keeps refusing to move, members should be ready to escalate the mobilization, which may include strike votes. 

Now is the time to get informed and get ready.  

Talk to your local union reps. Attend union meetings. Review PSAC bargaining information. Ask questions. Register for training through your PSAC regional office. Make sure you’re getting bargaining updates and know what’s happening in your workplace. 

Show your support and keep the pressure on 

Every email, every black shirt, every workplace conversation, and every member who gets involved strengthens our position at the bargaining table. 

• Send an email to your MP demanding a fair deal. 
• Register for strike readiness and mobilization training by contacting your PSAC regional office. 
• Talk to your coworkers about bargaining and encourage them to get involved. 
• Connect with your PSAC area council through your PSAC regional office to discuss how members can prepare for an effective strike. 
• Take action by wearing black on the next Day of Solidarity.  
• Show your support at work with our “I Support My Bargaining Team” materials.  
• Invite a bargaining team member to speak at your next union meeting or event.
