PSAC’s bargaining team representing members at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency kicked off a new round of bargaining in Ottawa between February 26 and 28. The union presented members’ proposals for improvements to the collective agreement that were reviewed by members at the CFIA Bargaining Conference in October.
The team also received CFIA management’s proposals, but notes that the document has many blank pages, kept as placeholders for future submissions by the employer.

While most of the week’s discussions were dedicated to clarifying each party’s proposals for the other, the CFIA bargaining team looks forward negotiating improvements and reaching a tentative agreement as soon as possible.
Follow-up bargaining sessions are confirmed for March 26-28, May 14-16 and June 11-13. And additional dates are tentatively set for July 16-18, August 7-9 and September 24-26.
Over the coming weeks, the negotiator and respective regional bargaining team member will be doing site visits across the country. These visits will be a good opportunity for members at CFIA to learn more about the bargaining process and share concerns directly with the negotiator and bargaining team member.
In the meantime, should you have questions or concerns, please contact the bargaining team member in your region listed below. And if you have not done so yet, please sign-up for email updates.
