PSAC held national telephone townhalls with Indigenous and racialized members from November to December 2023 as part of our commitment to build an anti-racist union. These discussions were the last component of consultations since the Anti-Racism Action Plan was launched in 2021.
Through 14 telephone townhall sessions, hundreds of Indigenous and racialized members from across the country shared their experiences and concerns related to making our union more diverse and inclusive. These townhalls provided us with valuable information to guide our anti-racism work based on the lived experiences of our members.
Townhalls covered five key areas: representation and engagement, access to support from the union, leadership positions, union engagement, and inclusivity.
We thank everyone who participated in the latest round of consultations, it is essential to build an anti-racist union. We also encourage members to self-identify as a member of an equity-seeking group to make sure you receive the latest updates on our anti-racism work.
We will release our full consultation report on PSAC’s Anti-Racism Action Plan in the months ahead.
