Walking in Our Truth Together: Resistance, Resurgence, and Reconciliation

Modules nine and 10 of our online course, Walking in Our Truth Together, are now available. Released in conjunction with National Indigenous Peoples Day, these final modules complete the 10-part course — an opportunity for members to learn from the rich knowledge systems of Indigenous peoples, confront the impacts of colonialism, and engage meaningfully in a process of transformation.

Rooted in the principles of truth and reconciliation, this educational resource continues to raise awareness of Indigenous peoples’ lived experiences, knowledge systems, and the enduring strength that has shaped their past, present, and future.

Module 9: Resistance, Resilience, Resurgence, and Reconciliation

This module highlights powerful examples of resistance and cultural resurgence, carried forward by generations of leaders, families, and communities. Despite systemic violence and attempts to erase their identities, Indigenous peoples have continued to protect and revitalize their cultures, languages, and traditions. These stories show how Indigenous peoples have not only survived, but reignited knowledge and ways of life that continue to shape the future.

"We carry the stories of our ancestors. When we speak, we awaken them." — Georgina Lightning, film director and screenwriter

Module 10: An Invitation to Walk Forward Together, Differently

This final module offers both a moment of reflection and a turning point. Module 10 is an opportunity to take stock of your learning and, more importantly, reflect on how you will carry it forward. It is a call to live the truth, take meaningful action, and actively support Indigenous justice and sovereignty in your workplace, your community, and your union life.

“We cannot change what was done, but we can change what we do today to shape a better tomorrow.” — Murray Sinclair, former chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada
