The government’s misguided decision to mandate federal public service workers into the office at least three days per week blatantly disregards their well-being and violates their collective bargaining rights.
This decision was made without any consultation with unions or workers, and flies in the face of the telework agreement PSAC negotiated in the last round of bargaining.
It’s time to fight back.
Email your Member of Parliament and Treasury Board President Anita Anand to demand the government withdraw its one-size-fits-all telework mandate and put the needs of workers first.
Every worker’s job and situation are unique, and a cookie cutter approach to telework can’t be applied to Canada’s diverse public service. Overwhelming evidence proves that telework improves work-life balance and increases productivity for workers.
This mandate – enforced without any evidence-based research to support it – will have deep and long-lasting impacts on the morale of federal public service workers.
This government’s top priority should be setting up federal public service workers with the tools and resources needed to provide the highest quality services to Canadians. Forcing workers back into ill-equipped and poorly maintained offices without proper workspaces will impact our members’ ability to deliver the services Canadians depend on.
Take action and send a clear message to this government and our employer today.
