Purpose of position: 

Under the general supervision of the IT/IM Network Operations Supervisor, the Systems and Network Support Analyst is responsible for the installation, configuration, administration and maintenance of the Unified Communications (VOIP, Wireless Devices, etc.) Network enterprise storage, servers, network services and applications and operating systems in a virtualized and secured environment as well as Office 365 and other online services.

The Systems and Network Support Analyst reviews, assesses and evaluates new information technology developments in the field of Unified Communications, storage and virtualization for network to improve disaster / recovery and backup / restore services, as well as anti-virus and security services. 

The incumbent researches and tests new and upcoming networking technologies as required and provides guidance, support, technical assistance and training to other IT staff and the user community as required.

Qualifications: 

Education/Experience:

  • Computer Science degree or a combination of education and relevant technical experience with Microsoft Certified Solution Associate (MCSA) certification or in progress.
  • Minimum five years extensive working experience administering and supporting Microsoft Windows servers and directory services in a large enterprise network environment. 
  • Windows Network administration or engineering knowledge supported by certification or adequate proof.
  • In-depth experience administrating, managing and supporting VMware virtual environments.
  • In-depth experience in administrating and configuring Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Clustering services, Windows Security, Deployment services, WSUS, Microsoft Azure and other Microsoft Infrastructure Services.
  • Demonstrated experience working with networking equipment (hubs, switches, routers, firewall, cabling, print servers, VoIP equipment, etc.) and network management tools.
  • In-depth experience in complex network analysis, problem troubleshooting and resolution.
  • Working experience setting up and administering Unified Communications, VLANs and VPNs.
  • Working experience administering backup and restore processes using Symantec Backup Exec an asset.
  • Working experience managing virus protection using Symantec End Point, a definite asset.

 

Knowledge:

  • In-depth knowledge of network protocols and connectivity technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relational information management databases.
  • In-depth knowledge of NAS and SANs. Advanced knowledge of NetApp SAN, an asset.
  • ITIL Awareness is an asset, in particular change and incident management processes.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with PC and Server hardware configurations and SCSI and RAID technologies, an asset.
