Staff of the Non-Public Funds: Strike action continues, our voices are being heard

NPF members on strike at Canadian Forces bases in Bagotville, Kingston, Montreal, Ottawa, Petawawa, St. Jean, and Valcartier are making their voices heard. Together we can secure real gains for workers, and that’s exactly what we’re doing.

When we started strike action, this employer disgracefully canceled benefits and maternity leave top-up for our most marginalized members. We took action and publicly demanded that they rescind their decision, and we succeeded. This week, the employer backtracked on their decision, reinstating maternity leave top-ups for members on strike.

This is YOUR victory, and one of many more to come.

We are also aware that managers have been approaching members directly on the lines about issues at the bargaining table. Bargaining updates will be issued to members by PSAC and UNDE as soon as we have confirmed and accurate information – not by the employer.

Bargaining dates for other NPF bargaining units cancelled

Bargaining dates for NPF units in Trenton, Suffield, Gagetown, and Goose Bay, that had been previously agreed to by both the union and employer have been cancelled at the employer’s request. It’s clear they are feeling the pressure.

What is the Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services?

Staff of the Non-Public funds are part of the federal public service but exist as a separate agency. Under current bargaining legislation, each NPF unit bargains separately with the CFMWS, which operates under the authority of Minister of Defence, Bill Blair.
