Public Service Dental Care Plan: positive enrollment with Canada Life

On November 1, 2024, the Public Service Dental Care Plan (PSDCP) will transition to a new contract with Canada Life.

While the plan is currently administered by Canada Life and this is not a change to a new provider, the new contract requires that members covered by the plan complete a mandatory positive enrolment process.

The government of Canada, as the plan sponsor, is solely responsible for the contract bidding process. It is their responsibility to ensure a seamless transition for plan members. However, our union will monitor closely the roll-out of the new contract to ensure it does not impact claims processing and the continuation of benefits for our members. PSAC expects sufficient call centre capacity and resources to support members during the enrollment roll-out.

Next steps

Canada Life is completing the initial positive enrolment on behalf of plan members using information from the following authoritative sources:

  • Government of Canada: name, date of birth, gender, language, coverage level and effective date of coverage
  • Canada Life PSHCP account (if applicable): contact information
  • Canada Life PSDCP account: dependant information (if applicable)

PSAC members covered by the plan should watch for a confirmation email between September and early October and validate this information. This email will include access to enrolment details and PSDCP benefit card.

It is important that all PSAC members covered by the PSDCP validate and confirm this information.

Members who have not received a confirmation email by early October or who are on leave and do not have access to their government email should contact Canada Life at canadalife@mail.canadalife.com or call the PSDCP Member Contact Centre for inquiries within North America (toll-free) at 1-855-415-4414, Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, local time.

The Public Service Dental Care Plan covers  PSAC members employed by the federal government, many of its agencies, and other employers. Refer to the full list of employers covered by this plan to confirm whether it applies to you.
