PSO: Three days of contract talks with the Royal Mint

Economic proposals to be tabled at a later date.

On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday our Negotiating Team for the PSO group met with management representatives to exchange bargaining proposals. The parties’ proposals focused primarily on non- economic matters. We will be tabling wage and other economic proposals later in the process once we receive payroll data from the Employer. Our team tabled demands covering key priorities and made clear to management that a number of issues need to be addressed in this round of negotiations, including:

  • Cost of Living: We are seeking wage increases and other forms of compensation that address the cost-of-living pressures our members face.
  • Overtime: We are looking for improvements with respect to overtime and premiums.
  • Work/Life Balance: Our members have made it clear that enhanced work/life balance is a priority for this round of bargaining.
  • Scheduling: Were looking for a contract that provides union members with more scheduling stability and more say in the hours we work.

Management also tabled the employer’s proposals. We informed management that we are prepared to bargain, but we are not interested in steps backwards in this round of bargaining. We are looking to improve working conditions at the Mint.

We return to the bargaining table next month. If you have questions contact a member of our Negotiating Team: Shawn Hunter, Doug Engstrom and Jeff Shelby. There will be regular updates as things progress.
