Negotiations for nearly 30,000 PSAC-UTE members at the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) will resume July 14.
The new dates were secured following our email campaigns targeting Treasury Board President Jean-Yves Duclos and Revenue Minister Diane Lebouthillier during which PSAC-UTE members sent thousands of emails demanding a return to the table.
Our union bargaining team is meeting with CRA representatives following the strong tentative agreement signed this week at the PA bargaining table for over 70,000 Treasury Board employees. That agreement, along with the Public Interest Commission’s recommendation for settlement, which sided with many union-proposals, gives our bargaining team additional leverage to make progress on addressing key members concerns at the table.
Phoenix damages settlement reached
Alongside the PA talks, PSAC also successfully negotiated a Phoenix damages settlement for all PSAC members, including UTE members working at the CRA.
Last year, PSAC rejected the government’s meagre offer of 5 days of cashable leave, which was too little and would have rewarded those who earn more while punishing workers who make less. The current agreement provides eligible PSAC members with a fair and equitable lump sum payment of $2,500.
Unlike tentative deals for collective agreements that must be voted on by PSAC members, the Phoenix damages agreement required ratification by the PSAC National Board of Directors. The Board voted unanimously in favour of the offer on July 3.
Please read the following update which provides greater detail on the general Phoenix compensation portion of the settlement, as well as the expansion of the claims process for out-of-pocket expenses and for those who suffered major losses because of Phoenix.
