Parks Canada bargaining continues: full equity and no concessions remain our focus

Our Parks Canada bargaining team was back at the table with the employer on March 25–26, 2026, continuing the fight for fairness and stability at work by pushing the priorities members identified.

During this round of bargaining, our team held detailed caucus discussions and carefully reviewed data the employer provided on the bargaining unit to better inform our decisions response to the employer’s proposals. We also discussed key priorities, including the National Joint Council (NJC), the Joint Learning Program (JLP), and health and safety.

To address long‑standing inequities, our team made presentations to the employer on both the NJC and JLP, which helped support discussions between the parties. Parks Canada workers deserve the same rights and benefits as those in the core public service, and our bargaining team is pushing to make that a reality.

The Union proposals include full reintegration into the NJC with no negative impact on members, as well as a sustainable and expanded JLP. Full parity in access to benefits and supports, including travel and isolation allowances, relocation support, government housing, and bilingual bonuses, remains a priority for the team.

Our other demands include stronger job security, better work-life balance, group-specific working conditions, and fair compensation that keeps up with the cost of living.

Our bargaining team will keep pushing for fairness, equity, and respect at every step.

Next steps

Our Parks Canada team will meet with the employer again on May 27 and 28, 2026. We’ll continue to keep members informed as negotiations progress.
