Imagine receiving a paycheck for 0$. That’s the reality many young workers in Canada in unpaid internships have to deal with, and it’s unacceptable.  

Unpaid internships are exploitative and anti-worker. It impedes fair labour practices, limits accessibility, perpetuates inequality, and creates many barriers to participation. They are a form of exploitation and sometimes they work under unsafe conditions, all under the guise of gaining “experience".

Elected leaders from all governments – federal, provincial and territorial – have to work together to quickly pass legislation banning this unethical practice once and for all.
