CRA bargaining: Mediation fails, employer brings nothing to table

After our PSAC-UTE bargaining team declared impasse in February, the Federal Public Service Labour Relations and Employment Board (FPSLREB) set mediation dates. Our bargaining team met with the employer in mediation this week.

During mediation, we reiterated our key priorities: remote work, fair wages, as well as increased protections for our jobs, and against AI. Despite our efforts, we made no progress on any of these issues. The Agency did not change its position on any of these matters. They also still had no response to our wage proposals. There was no resolution, and we remain in dispute.

As a result, PSAC will again be notifying the FPSLREB that we remain at impasse.

What’s next

Once PSAC notifies the FPSLREB of our position, the Labour Board will decide whether to go to a Public Interest Comission. To learn more about the Federal Public Sector Labour Relations Act, the law that dictates bargaining for CRA employees, check out this video.

If you were unable to attend the bargaining townhall organized by PSAC-UTE, you can now watch the recording. Make sure to visit the UTE and PSAC websites for more information and to sign up for our newsletter. If you have any questions, please contact your UTE local.
