CFIA bargaining: Parties exchange proposals

PSAC has officially launched a new round of negotiations with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency for more than 4,000 members.

The bargaining team met with the employer September 22–23 to exchange bargaining proposals and had productive discussions about our priorities.

Our bargaining team is putting forward clear demands shaped directly by the input submitted by members across the country, including recognizing the value of your work, as well as stronger job security and workplace protections.

Key issues at the table

Wages are an important issue at the table. Our team will be fighting for fair salary increases, allowances, and market adjustments that reflect the current cost of living and the value of the work that CFIA workers do every day to keep people in Canada safe.

Our bargaining team is also ready to address several long-standing issues for CFIA workers like improvements to leave, preparatory time, wash-up time, premiums, and protections against discrimination and harassment.

The parties will return to the bargaining table the week of December 7 to continue negotiations.
