Economic proposals to be tabled at a later date.
On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday our Negotiating Team met with management representatives to exchange bargaining proposals. The parties’ proposals focused primarily on non- economic matters. We will be tabling wage and other economic proposals later in the process once we receive payroll data from the Employer. Our team tabled demands covering key priorities and made clear to management that a number of issues need to be addressed in this round of negotiations, including:
- Job Security: We are looking for a contract that will provide more protection for our jobs and our work.
- Work/Life Balance: Our members have made it clear that enhanced work/life balance is a priority for this round of bargaining.
- Staffing: Staffing and training processes that would ensure respect for our years of service.
- Scheduling: Were looking for a contract that provides union members with more scheduling stability and more say in the hours we work.
Management also tabled the employer’s proposals. We informed management that we are prepared to bargain, but we are not interested in steps backwards in this round of bargaining. We are looking to improve working conditions at the Mint.
We return to the bargaining table next month. If you have questions contact a member of our Negotiating Team: Chris Hobbs and Jason Lapointe (Ottawa) Joel Kowerko and Kelly Votto (Winnipeg). There will be regular updates as things progress.
