PSAC wins additional compensation in SSO pay equity case

Arbitrator Joy Noonan ruled on June 13, 2018, that current and former Statistical Survey Operations (SSO) employees eligible for pay equity shall be entitled to additional compensation for paid leaves not included in SSO’s initial pay equity payments.  Current and former SSO employees covered by the pay equity settlement from March 8, 1985, to Nov. 30, 2013, will be receiving an additional payment from SSO.

The arbitrator determined that an appropriate percentage would be eight per cent for SSO employees who stopped SSO work any time up to and including March 31, 2000, and 10 per cent for employees who stopped SSO work on April 1, 2000 or later.  While the PSAC pushed for higher percentages in arbitration, we are pleased that all current and former members entitled to pay equity will quickly receive an additional payment.

Because SSO is responsible for making these additional payments, please direct questions concerning this to SSO at: statcan.ssopayequityoesequitesalariale.statcan@canada.ca
