Negotiations with Canada Post: Bargaining conference postponed while negotiations continue

Earlier this year, PSAC-UPCE announced that we would head into early negotiations with Canada Post Corporation to reach a new collective agreement before the current one expires in August 2020.   In this context, we commenced bargaining on January 27th, 2020.

The parties have discussed a number of priority issues that were brought to the table as part of Letter of Understanding signed between the parties on December 12, 2019. The timelines contained in the Letter of Understanding have been revised to give the parties enough time to consider their respective proposals, consult their principals, develop and agree to contractual language changes and finalize a tentative agreement.

As negotiations between CPC and PSAC continue, the parties will now have until May 1st, 2020 to reach a tentative agreement. In order to allow the parties to have full discussion on the issues at the table, PSAC-UPCE have decided to postpone the bargaining conference to the beginning of June. Should the parties not reach an early renewal of the Collective Agreement through a tentative agreement, the PSAC/UPCE bargaining conference will now be held in Ottawa on June 8, 9 and 10, 2020. However, if a tentative agreement is reached within this timeframe, the deal will be put to the membership for a democratic ratification vote.

Your PSAC-UPCE bargaining team will provide further updates as they become available.
