EB bargaining team discusses pay study, mental health

The EB bargaining team met with the employer this week and discussed the EB pay study linked to the recent Public Service Labour Relations Board decision on the policy grievance regarding federal teachers at Correctional Services Canada.

Our team made recommendations and will develop new proposals, including national rates of pay. The team will also discuss the wage-market differences when monetary proposals are tabled in the future.

Agreement on task force on mental health

PSAC reached a deal with Treasury Board on a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a joint task force on mental health. PSAC tabled the proposal in January to ensure a more proactive approach to improving mental health. The task force, made up of an equal number of union and employer representatives, will have a long-term focus on continuous improvement and the successful implementation of measures to improve mental health in the workplace.

Appendix D

We asked the employer for the minutes of all committees mentioned in Appendix D on class sizes and raised numerous interpretation issues related to the definitions of aggregate, family of schools, among others.

Lack of superintendent

We also raised the problems our members face due to the lack of a superintendent in Ontario, which has made the guidelines directed at schools difficult to follow.

In the coming weeks, the bargaining team will organize information sessions across the country. Please contact a member of our bargaining team or a PSAC regional office near you for more details.
