Our CFIA bargaining team met with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency June 8-10 in Ottawa. We continued discussions on non-monetary proposals and signed off on a number of administrative and house cleaning items that were agreed to last session.
The employer tabled the Treasury Board (TB) proposal on sick leave / short -term disability plan. This proposal is concessionary in nature and has been rejected by all bargaining agents in the core public service, as well as separate agencies.
Phoenix pay system
Our union bargaining team continued to raise concerns over the implementation of the Phoenix pay system and its impact on our members at CFIA. PSAC members at CFIA who are still facing pay issues as a result of the new pay system should contact the employer at 1888HRHInfo@inspection.gc.ca. Further information is available on the PWGSC and PSAC websites.
Also, please note that members are entitled to access priority pay if they have not received their pay on time.
June 8 National Day of Action
While in Ottawa, the bargaining team joined other PSAC members in actions as part of the National Day of Action organized by PSAC. Events were held across the country in defence of free collective bargaining and against concessions. We were heartened to receive messages and pictures on that day from PSAC members at CFIA right across the country in support of the bargaining team.
We thank you for your continued support of the bargaining team.
More bargaining dates set
The team set future bargaining dates with CFIA, to take place July 12-14, October 4-6 and November 7-9, 2016. Stay informed: sign up for bargaining updates and make sure your membership information is up to date.
