PSAC honours Arab Heritage Month

April is National Arab Heritage Month a time to honour the rich and diverse cultures of Arab communities and celebrate the invaluable contributions of Arab Canadians. The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) is proud to recognize and uplift these contributions, which continue to shape and enrich our communities.

This month is an opportunity to reflect on the profound impact Arab communities have made in every sphere of Canadian life — whether in the arts, business, education, or public service. Arab Canadians are an essential part of the Canadian society, and this month, we proudly celebrate that heritage.

However, as we celebrate, we also acknowledge the deeply troubling and painful realities many in the Arab communities are facing, particularly the increasing anti-Palestinian racism and the ongoing genocide in Gaza. The rise of attacks on Gaza have reached catastrophic proportions, with thousands of innocent lives lost, entire neighborhoods reduced to rubble, and critical infrastructure destroyed.

Arab Heritage Month is an opportunity to reflect on these injustices and to reaffirm our commitment to combating all forms of racism, including anti-Palestinian racism.
