Every day, federal public service workers deliver for Canada. Whether it’s protecting our borders and coasts, ensuring food and water safety, assisting businesses and farmers, delivering vital health care and social programs, or responding to emergencies like wildfires, their work is essential to the safety and wellbeing of communities across the country.
National Public Service Week — June 15–21 — is a time to say thank you. To the workers who show up through crises and in everyday moments, who keep public services running and communities supported. Your work matters, and it deserves to be celebrated.
"Public service workers don’t just keep this country running — they hold it together when it counts,” said Sharon DeSousa, PSAC national president. “We’re proud to celebrate their work this week, but appreciation isn’t enough. It’s time for this government to back up its words with real action. Stop the cuts, invest in public services, and respect the workers who deliver them.”
PSAC’s For You, Canada campaign highlights the people behind Canada’s public service and why we need to come together to protect it.
To mark National Public Service Week, PSAC is calling on Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government to:
- Stop the cuts that threaten vital services
- Invest in strong public services that support communities and the economy
- Respect the workers who deliver public services to people across Canada
As a new round of negotiations with Treasury Board begins, this is an opportunity for the government to support public services and the people who deliver them by investing in a strong, well-funded public service and rejecting the cuts that weaken it.
Strong public services build a strong Canada — and public services are only as strong as the people behind them.
To all federal public service workers: thank you. Your work makes a difference every day.
