Royal Canadian Mint tables short-term disability program to replace earned sick leave credits, bargaining team schedules membership update meetings

Our bargaining team met with the employer to exchange proposals on September 10 and 11 in Ottawa. The employer served notice that they would be tabling changes to our sick leave language at the next meeting in Winnipeg with our team.  The employer tabled several other concessions regarding working conditions and compensatory leave.

Bargaining continued in Winnipeg on October 15 and 16, and, while some progress was made, the employer did indeed table a proposal that fundamentally changes the earned sick leave credit system by replacing it with a short-term disability program.

Our team will be scheduling dates to resume bargaining in the new year, but in the meantime, we will be holding bargaining update meetings as follows:
