PSAC/NEU members working at the Government of Nunavut held a Bargaining Conference in the National Capital Region on October 2-4, 2018. The current four-year collective agreement with the territorial government will expired on September 30, 2018.
The elected delegates from across the territory gathered to prepare for upcoming negotiations for a new collective agreement. The conference benefited from simultaneous interpretation in Inuktitut to ensure that all delegates could participate fully.
Delegates reviewed a wide range of recommendations for contract improvements and changes submitted by PSAC/NEU members. Members in Canada’s north must contend with particular challenges, such as food security, housing shortages, extreme weather, and isolation. They need a collective agreement that is responsive to their particular circumstances.
Conference delegates also learned about the bargaining process, participated in a mobilization workshop, and elected the Bargaining Team, which will sit across from the employer throughout negotiations and fight for improvements to the current contract.
Your bargaining team is your voice at the negotiating table and your support is critical to bargaining success!
The team will publish regular communiques to keep you updated on the bargaining process. The full package of bargaining proposals will also be shared with you once it is presented to the Government of Nunavut.
We strongly encourage you to stay in touch with the elected Bargaining Team members in your region:
