Despite numerous delays by the employer, the collective agreement for members working at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has been signed by both parties and will be printed and shared with members shortly. The collective agreement is also available online.
The four-year agreement – which expires on December 31, 2018 – contains no concessions and provides annual salary increases of 1.25 per cent for each year, plus other wage adjustments made for specific classifications.
The contract also includes numerous improvements to work-life balance, including a stronger workforce adjustment policy and improvements to leave and parental benefits.
All the highlights of the latest collective agreement can be found here.
The Public Service Alliance of Canada/Agriculture Union are now seeking bargaining input from members to begin negotiations for the next collective agreement.
Members at CFIA are encouraged to fill out the online form to provide recommendations for improvements and changes they would like to see made to their contract.
Due to the delays in signing, the online form will be open for input until July 27, 2018 and the National bargaining conference will now be held October 2-4 in Ottawa.
