The Education and Library Science (EB) bargaining team focused on expanding a range of leave options and potential flexible work arrangements during talks with Treasury Board September 14-16.

The deadline to vote on the FB tentative agreement is less than one week away. FB members have until Thursday, September 23 at 12 p.m. EDT to cast their ballot.

At first glance, it might seem like Erin O’Toole’s Conservatives are rolling out the red carpet for unions and public service workers this election. After all, he’s been quick to dangle a few appealing promises in front of Canadian workers, hoping some will bite. But roll back the rug just a little bit, and the façade quickly crumbles.

Thursday’s English-language federal debate proved what Canadian workers feared – that an Erin O’Toole Conservative government would devastate Canada’s pandemic recovery and slash public services Canadian families rely on.

Canada needs a government that will reduce precarious employment, increase research funding, and invest in education for all.  Pledge to vote for a candidate that will  [11]maintain a high-quality, affordable, and accessible post-secondary education system.  

It’s so important for PSAC members and Canadians to support parties that will continue to build and fund a universal, accessible and affordable child care system that reduces fees, creates more child care spots, helps women return to work and provide fair wages to chronically underpaid early childhood educators.  

O’Toole is ready to pick up where Harper left off. His platform is riddled with ways he’ll ‘achieve savings’ and make government ‘more efficient’ by contracting out public services to private companies.
