PSAC and the Union of Northern Workers contribute $150,000 to NWT wildfire emergency relief efforts [2]

In response to devastating wildfires that continue to ravage the Northwest Territories, PSAC has donated $75,000 to bolster the $75,000 donation from the Union of Northern Workers (UNW), a component of PSAC, to the United Way Northwest Territories Emergency Response. An evacuation order has been issued for Yellowknife, a city of 20,000 people. Fires are not showing signs of slowing down.

Non-Public Funds: Bargaining reaches critical point as three units head to PIC together [9]

Valcartier, Montréal and St. Jean, and Bagotville Non-Public Funds bargaining units in the Québec region will proceed to a Public Interest Commission (PIC) August 21-25. This is the first time that a PIC will hear three NPF bargaining units together. We expect that the outcome of these hearings to have a ripple effect on other NPF bargaining units.

PSAC strongly condemns ongoing inaction on the part of Manitoba government leaders and the City of Winnipeg. The refusal to search for three Indigenous women in the Prairie Green Landfill is proof of ongoing colonization and erasure of Indigenous women. We expect better from governments at all levels.
