Bargaining Updates
Our PSAC-USJE bargaining team is pleased to announce that a tentative agreement has been reached with the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), one day before our arbitration date [4]. This achievement is the result of the hard work, commitment, and determination of our bargaining team and members across the country.
March 21 marks the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. The date commemorates the 1960 Sharpeville massacre [6] in South Africa, when police opened fire on peaceful protestors opposing apartheid laws. It stands as a solemn reminder of the violent realities of apartheid [7] — a system built on institutionalized racial discrimination and the ongoing need to confront racism in all its forms.
World Water Day takes place every year on March 22. This year’s United Nations theme, “Where water flows, equality grows,” reminds us that safe water and sanitation are human rights and essential for equality. This day and theme are a powerful reminder that the global water crisis does not affect everyone in the same way, especially women, girls, and Indigenous and racialized communities.
SV bargaining: Team pushes for stronger protections as employer rejects group-specific proposals [10]
Our SV bargaining team met with Treasury Board on March 11-12 to push for stronger job security, improved family leave, and fair compensation for specialized workers.
Since reaching impasse, many members have been asking what this means for bargaining and what comes next. One thing is clear: our work has not stopped. Our PA bargaining team met in caucus March 11–12 to analyze options and prepare for the next phase of negotiations.
Our PSAC-UCTE bargaining team is pleased to share some of the details of the tentative agreement reached with NAV CANADA. The agreement was possible because of the dedication and perseverance of our bargaining team and members across the country who joined the fight for a fair contract.
The Federal Public Sector Labour Relations and Employment Board has informed PSAC-UTE that it will appoint a mediator after the bargaining team declared impasse [14] last month. Mediation dates have not yet been determined.
The Federal Public Sector Labour Relations and Employment Board has informed PSAC that it will appoint mediators following the PA and EB bargaining teams declaring impasse last month. Mediation is now scheduled for April 28–30 for the PA group, with dates to be determined for the EB group.
March marks both International Women's Day and Women's History Month, a time when workers at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) should be celebrating an estimated $15.9 million in pay equity adjustments to fix years of pay discrimination against women. Instead, these workers are being made to wait even longer.
