PA bargaining: Preparing for the next phase and how members can support the fight  [1]

Since reaching impasse, many members have been asking what this means for bargaining and what comes next. One thing is clear: our work has not stopped. Our PA bargaining team met in caucus March 11–12 to analyze options and prepare for the next phase of negotiations.

Treasury Board bargaining: Mediators appointed for PA and EB groups [2]

The Federal Public Sector Labour Relations and Employment Board has informed PSAC that it will appoint mediators following the PA and EB bargaining teams declaring impasse last month. Mediation is now scheduled for April 28–30 for the PA group, with dates to be determined for the EB group.

Our PA bargaining team last met with Treasury Board on January 21–22, with the employer refusing to discuss most of our key proposals. After last week’s announcement of changes to work conditions while we are in bargaining, our PA team has made the decision to declare impasse as the employer refuses to bargain in good faith.

The PA bargaining team returned to the table with Treasury Board, December 3–4, and submitted a comprehensive monetary package that includes a general economic increase of 4.75% per year over a three-year agreement. Our team also called for a 7% market adjustment for all PA classifications to close longstanding pay gaps with comparable workers in the federal public service.

As the government moves ahead with plans to cut tens of thousands of federal public service jobs, Treasury Board has tabled a proposal that would strip workers of the power to negotiate improvements to the workforce adjustment process.

PA bargaining: Negotiations begin for PSAC’s largest bargaining table   [10]

PSAC has officially launched a new round of negotiations with Treasury Board for more than 120,000 members in the PA, SV, TC, and EB groups, including over 100,000 PA members responsible for program administration, information services, communications, secretarial services, office equipment, administrative services, welfare programs, clerical functions and data processing.
