The SV bargaining team members’ diligence, hard work and varied experience were evident even before the team sat in front of the employer. Just before negotiations began, the SV bargaining team received an early draft of the pay study and reviewed it. While the report is still a rough draft, it nevertheless gave the team the opportunity to prepare technical questions that it will pose at a meeting with the company that provided the study.
The first round of negotiations included an exchange of bargaining proposals with the employer. The employer tabled an insulting wage proposal from the employer.
The employer also gave a presentation on short-term disability, which the bargaining team heard with utter lack of interest. The bargaining team made it clear to the employer that we’re not willing to make concessions on our sick leave.
