Purpose of position: 

Under the supervision of the Supervisor Membership Administration, the Regional Membership Cards Clerk is the main point of contact with regards to membership applications received from members under Directly Chartered Locals and is responsible for maintaining and processing their membership application cards. The position works closely with the Membership Administration Section staff and follows the direction of the Supervisor of this section regarding the efficient processing of membership application requests and the expeditious issue of union cards to members.  

Qualifications: 

Knowledge

  • The position requires good administrative knowledge to gather, verify, process and file members’ application cards, respond to enquiries and produce reports;
  • The position requires general knowledge of the PSAC’s structure in order to answer questions relating to membership cards processes.
  • The position required a good knowledge of records management principles and processes.
  • The position requires demonstrated computer and system applications knowledge.
  • The position requires knowledge of the PSAC structure and of the Direct Charted Locals represented by the PSAC.

Capacities

  • The position requires accuracy and excellent data processing skills.
  • The position requires the ability to operate the membership information database and to use computers, software applications, office equipment, etc.;
  • The position requires the ability to independently organize, plan and determine work priorities in order to meet strict deadlines, in an environment with multiple and competing priorities.
  • The position requires the demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others and good interpersonal skills.
  • The position requires the ability to communicate orally and in writing in English.

Personal suitability

  • The position requires a high degree of initiative and good judgment.
