Activists representing PSAC’s Directly Chartered Locals (DCLs) gathered in Montreal from November 2 - 4 to discuss strategies to build membership strength and win better working conditions for their members. Directly Chartered Locals have been part of the PSAC for more than 20 years. Over 30,000 members are represented by these locals.

Magali Picard was elected as the National Executive Vice-President for the Public Service Alliance of Canada at PSAC’s 18th National Triennial Convention in May 2018. She previously served as the Regional Executive Vice-President (REVP) for PSAC’s Quebec Region from 2012-2018.

This is a very sad anniversary for public service workers. A year ago, the Liberal government began its rollout of Phoenix, the consolidated payroll system for the federal public service. Since then, thousands of workers have been paid incorrectly or, in some cases, not at all. This has caused financial hardship and stress for these workers. And many more worry every pay day if they will be the next victim of the Phoenix debacle.

The 2017 PSAC NATIONAL EQUITY CONFERENCES will be held March 24 to 28, 2017 at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel. This event offers delegates the opportunity to participate in one or more of the five equity conferences. In addition, space exists to explore common human rights issues and areas of intersectionality. We encourage you to personally inform the members and activists in your Locals and Committees to ensure they are made aware of these conferences. Bulletin boards may not always be accessible and additional outreach is very important.
