PSAC calls on Canadians to stand together in solidarity

We call on all Canadians to stand together today in this time of tragedy. Fear and division will only give credibility to these terrible acts.

The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) is deeply saddened and shocked by the tragic events that transpired in Ottawa on Wednesday morning, October 22.

‎On behalf of our union and our members, we offer our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Corporal Nathan Cirillo. Corporal Cirillo, a young father, died while doing his job: standing on guard in memory of those who have died in war.

Our thoughts also are with the other victims injured in yesterday's tragic events. We wish them a swift and full recovery.

We thank the many men and women, members of our various security forces, who kept the citizens of Ottawa safe, including the thousands of public service workers working in the downtown core.

We acknowledge our members and all those who work on Parliament Hill on behalf of Canadians, who have suffered trauma resulting from the violent invasion of their workplace.

We call on all Canadians to stand together today in this time of tragedy. Fear and division will only give credibility to these terrible acts.
