Purpose of position: 

Under the general guidance of the Information Technology and Information Management Coordinator, the IT/IM Network Operations Supervisor is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of the overall IT network infrastructure and systems. The position is responsible for the coordination of IT project-related activities of a diverse implementation team consisting of external consultants, project managers, technical staff and end-users. The position is also responsible for overseeing the operations of the desktop and help desk services to the user community.

 

The IT/IM Network Operations Supervisor evaluates the business and information needs of the organization in order to develop recommendations and manages the implementation of solutions to business and related technology requirements and problems.

Qualifications: 

Education:

  • A Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer Networking, or in a computer-related or a relevant discipline or a combination of education and experience in project management, network operations, call centre or desktop support and structured systems analysis techniques and systems development life cycle methodologies.

Experience:

  • A minimum of eight (8) years demonstrated working experience in a management role, in structured systems analysis and design, project management and network operations with data centres and user support operations.

 

Knowledge:

  • A broad understanding of Microsoft Technology Stack (.NET, IIS, SQL Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, WINS, Exchange, Lync, SharePoint).

 

Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and understand the functionality of existing database applications;
  • Demonstrated ability to provide comprehensive and technically sound advice to management, computer users and technical staff in specific technical and business process areas;
  • Demonstrated ability in creating system and end-user documentation including requirements definitions, flow charts, Gantt charts, data flow diagrams and training documents;
  • Demonstrated ability to install, evaluate and implement into production various vendors supplied packages;
  • Strong ability in developing action plans and making presentations of plans and reports to management;
  • Ability to comfortably manage and mentor a team as they diagnose and solve complicated desktop and networking problems;
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and define and build out crisis management and escalation procedures;
  • Ability to understand and respond strategically and tactically to operational issues with innovative solutions;
  • Ability to analyze, assess and make recommendations on various informatics related proposals;
  • Ability to remain current on emerging information technology trends by participating in seminars, courses, industry presentations;
  • Demonstrated problem- solving, consultative, persuasive, team building and conflict resolution skills;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in French and English and the ability to communicate with computer users and technical specialists;
  • Strong capacity to manage and adhere to data policies with regards to confidentiality, sovereignty, security and disaster recovery by performing penetration and recovery testing both internal and external and provide consulting services to support protecting company technology (network and web applications) and physical environment.
