Every year some 2.3 million Canadian adults are affected by some form of Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSIs) or Musculoskeletal Injuries (MSIs), severely limiting their ability to work and affecting their lives.
The Prevention Program Regulation under Part II of the Canada Labour Code requires that employers identify and assess ergonomic hazards in the workplace. Employers must also either eliminate these ergonomic hazards, or protect workers from them.
The PSAC played an important role in the development of the 2012 Canadian Standards Association (CSA) standard on workplace ergonomics. The PSAC participates in the review and update of the CSA standard on office ergonomics.
